Jack Nut

Jack Nut

A jack nut, also known as a captive nut or blind nut, is a type of fastener used to create a threaded connection in materials where access to the backside of the material is limited or not possible. It is designed to provide a secure and reliable threaded hole in thin or blind materials. The jack nut consists of a threaded insert with a flange or base. The flange serves as a stopping point, preventing the nut from being inserted fully into the material. When installing a jack nut, it is inserted into a pre-drilled hole in the material from one side, and then a threaded bolt or screw is inserted through the hole in the material and into the jack nut. As the bolt or screw is tightened, it draws the flange of the jack nut toward the material, causing the insert to expand and grip the material tightly. This creates a secure threaded connection, even in thin or blind materials.Jack nuts are commonly used in applications where there is limited access to the backside of the material, such as sheet metal, plastic, fiberglass, or other thin materials. They are widely used in industries like automotive, aerospace, electronics, and general manufacturing, where strong and reliable threaded connections are required in these types of materials.
